Helen Keller Award
The District 35-R Helen Keller Award was initiated in 2003 by then District Governor Catherine Walton. Lion Cathy asked, "Would you like to help our District finances, prevent an increase in our district dues, and at the same time help our Lions entities? The district Helen Keller Award does all this and bestows the honorary title of “Knight of the Blind” to its recipient. Wouldn’t you love to see a special member of your club or a member of your community receive this beautiful award?"
"District 35R And The CLUB NAME
Presents the HELEN KELLER AWARD
This most prestigious award is presented to an Outstanding Lion…
Who has hastened the day when there shall be
no preventable blindness; no little deaf, blind child untaught;
no blind man or woman unaided!

AS A KNIGHT OF THE BLIND!"
The $500 donation for the Award will not only honor the recipient, but also help our district and Florida entities.
Clubs should consider awarding their Sight Committee Chairpersons as well as any other deserving Lion or community leader this award.
